It is important to be able to choose suitable hair curls for your customers’ hair replacement systems. In order to choose a suitable type of curl for customers, you need to not only fully understand the individual’s requirements but also understand the curl standards of your supplier. Their curl standards may be different from yours. For example, two factories may both offer 2.5cm curls but they may have different curl standards and different curling techniques so the end result will be different. As a hair system manufacturer, we have our own standards with professional curling techniques so it is important you familiarize yourself with them. This article will primarily focus on introducing the curvature standards of our company and by the end, you will be able to make more informed suggestions to your customers.
First of all, hair replacement curls are divided into two categories according to the way in which they are made: water curls and chemical curls.
Let’s introduce water curls first. Water curls are one-time curls. They are made before the final packaging of the hair replacement. These curls are not permanent as they will disappear once the hair replacement is washed. Some wholesalers choose water curls for hair systems in order that the hair replacements look their absolute best when they are sent to customers.
Now, let’s look at each of these chemical hair curls. For wholesale men’s hair systems, there are usually the following wave curls: silk straight, natural straight (about 40mm), body wave (36mm), slight wave (32mm), medium wave (25mm), tight wave (19mm), loose curl (15mm), medium curl (13mm), tight curl (10mm), loose afro (6mm), medium afro (4mm), and tight afro (2mm). Of course, you can also send us the specific hair curl sample that the customer wants because as a professional producer we can make any curl according to the curl sample.
Silky straight is different from normal straight. If you choose silky straight, the hair will be permanently straight. In order to get the silky straight effect, the hair has to be chemically treated. Also, Chinese hair has to be used as other types of hair have their own natural curl, and Chinese hair is straight, so it is easier to process Chinese hair to silk straight.
For 4.0cm natural straight and 3.6cm body wave we just use the natural curl of the hair and do not treat the hair with any chemicals. When you are choosing curls for your customers’ hair systems, you have to weigh in hair type because natural straight hair differs across different types of hair. For example, the natural curls in Chinese hair are very straight and sometimes there is actually almost no curl. Indian hair, on the other hand, has natural hair curls and sometimes the curls may even be bigger than 2.5 cm. So, if customers want natural Indian straight hair, we suggest you explain the nature of Indian hair to make sure they are happy with it. If the natural curl of Indian hair is too big for your customers and they want straighter hair, you can suggest Chinese hair instead. However, if the customer insists on Indian hair and wants a straighter effect than what Indian hair offers, then we can use chemicals to soften the hair. This makes straight hair possible but unlike silky straight hair, it cannot be curled later.
Hair curls less than 32mm have to be achieved through chemical treatment or steam ironing. The smaller the curl is, the longer it takes to process the hair with chemicals, and the more severe the hair damage. When your customers want a small curl less than 1.0mm, you must pay special attention to choosing good quality hair (such as Remy hair or Chinese Virgin hair) for customers at the same time so that the texture of the hair will not be damaged as much and the hairpiece can be used longer. If your customer wants to add small curls to light-colored hair, it is better you try to persuade them not to! Remember, light-colored hair is, in fact, dark-colored hair that has been dyed with chemicals so further chemical treatment to make the curls will significantly affect the hair quality. Further chemical treatment and the hair will become rough, frizzy and easily prone to breaking.
At the other end of the scale, we have afro curls. There are three types of afro curl: loose afro (6mm), medium afro (4mm) and tight afro (2mm). The maximum hair length we can make for this kind of Afro curl is 6 inches. For any type of afro curl, we strongly suggest using Chinese hair and not Indian hair or European hair as they are too soft and thin to withstand so much processing.
So you can see that there are various factors such as hair color, hair type and hair length to consider when choosing hair curls. Here are three more factors to take into account when choosing curls.
1. For injected ventilation, if the hair length is less than 6 inches, only curls bigger than 32mm are possible. If the hair is longer than 6 inches, we only recommend straight hair.
2. For V-looped ventilation, the smallest possible curl is 25mm.
3. For human gray hair, we can only do curls that are bigger than 25mm. Human gray hair is delicate and too delicate for small curls. It is best to choose synthetic gray hair for small curls.
