About Hair Systems
What are the differences between stock and custom hair systems?
Stock hair systems are the “off the shelf” version of our wigs and hair replacement solutions. They are premade and ready to ship upon purchase.
Custom systems are made to order, while duplicate systems are created to match or mimic pre-existing systems. Custom and duplicate hair systems can sometimes be the same, but neither can ever be created from stock systems.
What are the differences between virgin hair, Remy hair, and non-Remy hair?
Virgin hair, Remy hair, and non-Remy hair are all 100% human hair, but they are very different in quality, lifespan, and price.
Virgin hair is the top-class human hair cut directly from the donor’s ponytails with all cuticles in the same direction. It is completely unprocessed and intact hair that has never been chemical-treated, dyed, bleached, and colored. The hair keeps its natural state, and the cuticles are well-kept. However, virgin hair is now very rare in the market and rather expensive.
Remy hair is the second-best human hair harvested directly from a donor’s ponytail with cuticles all in the same direction. Different from virgin hair, it is slightly treated with acid. During the process, some cuticles are removed and, thus, fewer tangling problems will occur while using, the hair will also become more soft, shiny, and silky. Of course, the chemical treatment will affect the lifespan of hair, so it is not as durable as virgin hair. For its reasonable price, Remy hair is the most commonly used hair on the human hair wig market.
Non-Remy hair(normal hair) is any hair from a human scalp — which means it can be any hair that comes from the floor of a hair salon, a brush, or even a corpse. The cuticles of normal hair are not all in one direction. In case of hair tangles, normal hair will be treated with acid, during the process cuticles are removed, and the hair will become very soft and thin.
What are the differences between Indian hair, Chinese hair, Mongolian hair, Brazilian hair, and European hair?
1. Indian hair offers a very silky and soft texture, normally used for medium and medium-light density hair systems.
2. Chinese hair is similar to Indian hair, but it offers a stronger and thicker hair texture than Indian hair, so it is usually used on high-density hair systems.
3. Brazilian hair is smooth and soft, very similar to Indian hair, but the price is higher.
4. Mongolian hair is similar to Chinese hair with a strong and thick hair texture, and the price is the same.
5. European hair is the softest and thinnest among them. It offers a variety of natural light brown and blonde shades, meaning less processing. European hair is shorter in supply and is the most expensive hair on the market.
What is skin base material?
Skin, also known as PU or polyurethane, is widely used as a base material for hair systems. Skin bases are very popular because the skin is very thin and very similar to our skin. Only under very close inspection would someone be able to tell that it is a skin base and not someone’s scalp. Normally, the thickness of a skin base is 0.03mm, 0.06mm, or 0.08mm. People tend to prefer 0.06mm over the other two thicknesses because 0.03mm has a very short lifespan and 0.08mm may be too thick for the look some are going for. Although skin bases are very thin, they are still made by glue so they are not particularly breathable.
We can also apply other materials like mono, gauze, etc. to strengthen the skin materials and enable other ventilation methods.
To learn more on this topic, please click to check our blog: Introduction to Wig Base Materials Part 2: Skin/PU.
What are the differences between French lace and Swiss lace?
French lace and Swiss lace are two types of similar materials that are very breathable and lightweight.
However, the French lace base is made from stronger and thicker threads in comparison to the Swiss lace base, so when you touch them, you could feel that Swiss lace is somewhat softer and lighter. Therefore, French lace hair systems can go with a hair density that is as high as medium-heavy to cater to the needs of wearers who long for a head of thick hair. And Swiss lace hair systems normally can only go well with hair density from medium to light.
If you are interested in the detailed difference between them, please check out our introduction to the difference between French lace and Swiss Lace
What is a bleached knot? Do I need it?
Bleach is a chemical process to make the hair color lighter. When it applies to the hair knots of the hair system, it can make the base more natural and realistic than the unbleached ones, however, also less durable. If you are interested in a detailed comparison between bleached knots and unbleached knots, please kindly check the blog post: Bleached Knots vs. Unbleached Knots.
What are the differences between lace and mono base material?
Lace and mono are two types of net materials with small holes in them. However, the lace material is softer and more comfortable than mono, and mono is woven tighter and thus more durable.
If you are interested in the detailed difference between them, please check our introduction to wig base materials: lace and mono.
What are the differences between wigs and toupees?
A wig offers full coverage to the entire head whereas a toupee is a small hairpiece that is commonly used to cover a small area of baldness. For a detailed comparison between toupee and wig, please check out to read our blog: toupee vs. wig.
What are the differences between different types of hair extensions?
Clip-in hair extensions: They are designed in a way that has the hair extension attached to a base weft with clips readily sewn which allows the wearers to quickly put it on and remove it at their convenience without any types of damage.
Sew-in hair extensions: Also called “weave hair”, sew-in hair extensions work by braiding the natural hair into cornrows before using a needle and thread to sew the weave into the cornrow. Because of the way they are used, sew-in hair extensions are only applicable to people with thick hair.
Fusion Hair Extensions: Also referred to as “pre-bonded hair extension”, fusion hair extensions are used by having the hair fused to your natural hair with adhesives.
Tape-in Hair Extensions: They are meant to be applied to your hair with the assistance of tapes that are already attached to the hair roots using adhesives.
If you are interested in more about the different hair extensions, please click to check the blog: different types of hair extensions dominate the market.

What do different hair directions look like?
Normally, we can make the hair replacement and wig with different hair directions as listed below.
Crown hair direction—Left crown, center crown, and right crown
In this style, there is no break or part, but the hair at the crown of the hair system falls to different sides according to the location of the hair whorl.
Part Hair Direction–Left part, center part, and right part
There is a distinct line with no hair ventilated to separate the hair into two parts.
Break Hair Direction–Left break, right break, and middle break
The break hairstyle is very similar to part hair but with a less visible line as the break line is made with a little more hair density.
Flat Back Hair Direction
In this style, the hair is knotted all backward away from the face. Hair is flat in this way with no part or break. This hair direction is not used often.
Forward Pomp Hair Direction
The hair is knotted freestyle direction (forward) and brushed backward after the knotting is finished. The hair is more lift than flat back direction, and more natural.
Freestyle Hair Direction
Freestyle is considered to be the most popular hair direction. As the hair can be styled to any hair direction above as you wish.

How to Use & Maintain
How do I install a hair system to the head?
Firstly, you would need to shave your customer’s head and thoroughly clean the scalp with alcohol spray.
Next, you are going to apply either tape or glue or a combination of both to the hair system base depending on the base material and base structure.
Then it comes to the attachment process, which needs you to carefully and accurately place the hair replacement system on your customer’s scalp and make sure it is fully kept in place.
After it is done, the hair replacement system should appear very natural and realistic with its hair naturally blended with your customer’s hair.
Hair system installation is not as easy as it may seem given it entails a series of tasks that need to be implemented correctly. Check out our article about how to attach a hair system to find more valuable information that helps walk you through a typical hair system installation routine.
What kind of products should I use to fix a hair system to head, tape, glue, or clips?
We suggest you use professional tape or glue specially designed for hair systems to ensure the hair system is fixed on the head securely.
If you do not want to shave the thinning area, or you are allergic to adhesives, clip-on hair systems will be the better choice. We do not have clip-on hair systems in stock, but if you need them, please clarify when you place the order, we will sew the clips on for you.
How long does a hair system last?
Typically speaking, a hair system could last from a month to a year depending on factors such as base material, hair type, hair ventilation method, as well as how well it is taken care of.
Out of all the factors, the base material plays the most predominant role in the lifespan of men’s toupees as certain kinds of the base material are more resistant to damages and wear than the other.
Mono men’s toupees come with the longest lifespan of up to 6-12months, followed by lace and skin men’s toupees.
Full French lace men’s toupees usually can last around 3 months, as opposed to 2 months for full Swiss lace ones.
As to skin men’s toupees, it is generally the case that the thicker the base, the longer its lifespan. For example, thin skin men’s toupees with a 0.03mm base can be worn for only a month or so, while 0.08mm skin men’s toupees can last about 4 months in most cases.
Here in the chart below, you can find the estimated lifespan for some of our hair systems in stock.
Base Material | Lifespan |
Skin 0.03mm | Around 4 Weeks |
Skin 0.06mm | 2-3 Months |
Skin 0.08mm | 3-4 Months |
Skin 0.1mm | 3-6 Months |
Swiss Lace | 1-2 Months |
French Lace | 3-4 Months |
Monofilament | 6-12 Months |
For a detailed introduction to the lifespan of different hair system models, please click to check our blog: Expected Life of Different Hair Replacement Systems, or you can find more information on the product page or ask our customer service for help.
How to remove and clean hair systems?
Removing and cleaning a man weave unit properly is important in keeping the hair system in good condition and lasting for a long time. Please kindly follow the following five steps below to remove and clean a hair system.
Step 1: Spray the C-22 adhesive solvent on the base. Then, peel the hair system gradually and carefully from the scalp. Be careful not to pull so hard that you tear the base. This step may take some time. Be patient!
Step 2: Soak the hair system in cool water for a while to make it wet. NEVER use hot water.
Step 3: Place the hair system on a flat surface and clean off the adhesive residue. Use your hands to remove any excess residue with short, gentle strokes.
Step 4: For stubborn residue on the edges, use C-22 adhesive solvent. Brush it on with a fingernail brush to loosen the residue. Then, break it free.
Step 5: Wash the hair system with shampoo to make sure all of the residues have been removed. Then, towel it dry.
Please kindly refer to our detailed instructions on removing and cleaning hair systems.
How often should I wash the hair system?
The frequency to wash the hair system may vary from one individual to another. It depends on a large number of factors including your frequency of wearing, how much you sweat, the humidity level, and the extent to which you keep it in a clean condition. Typically speaking, most hair replacement systems need washing once every one or two weeks. Please don’t overdo it, as too much wash will lead to dryness and the fading of the hair color.
How do I avoid hair shedding from hair systems?
Pulling hard on strands of hair is the major reason that leads to hair shedding. Please stay gently and move slowly when you are cutting, brushing, or washing your hair system.
For V-looped and injected hair systems, we don’t recommend that you brush the hair when it is wet, especially after it has been soaked in hot water. Since these two knotting methods are knotless, such action may result in hair shedding.
Use a hair conditioner or hair oil to smooth the hair and avoid any hair tangles.
How do I avoid/deal with the hair tangling of the hair system?
Taking good care of your hair system and keeping the hair in a healthy state is the best way to avoid hair tangles. Following these tips below can avoid hair system tangles to a large extent.
1. Keep the hair system clean. Wash the hair system every one or two weeks to remove dirt that may lead to hair tangles.
2. Use a wide-tooth comb to brush curly hairpieces, especially ones with small curls such as kinky curls, yaki curls, or Afro curls when the hair is completely wet or completely dry. Comb the hair gently and slowly – do not pull or rake it.
3. After washing, it is better to let the hair dry naturally. If you do use a hairdryer, use your hand to curl the hair in the direction of the curl at the same time as this will help the hair keep its shape.
4. Use a hair conditioner or hair oil regularly to smooth the hair.
5. If the hair is particularly long, you should divide the hair into several segments. Comb gently from the hair tips and gradually move up.
6. Consider sleeping on a silk or satin pillow. This will reduce friction which is a major cause of hair tangling and breakage. Never sleep with wet hair as it is likely to result in tangling.
How do I avoid the hair color of the hair system fading during daily use?
Following these tips to avoid the hair system fading while using it on a daily basis will help you effectively avoid hair color fades.
1. Do not wash the hair system too frequently and only use cold or warm water when washing it.
2. Use shampoo or conditioners specifically made for hair systems.
3. Do not dry your hair system with a blow dryer for a very long time or at a high temperature.
4. Do not use a hair curler, hair straightener to style the hair system.
5. Do not get your hair system exposed to other high temperatures, like hot water, strong sunlight.
6. Do not get your hair system exposed to excessive amounts of chlorine, salt, or other harmful substances.
You can also click to read our detailed instructions on how to avoid hair color fading.
How do I take care of the hair system in daily use?
1. Use a wide-tooth comb to brush it gently and slowly or simply use your hand.
2. Wash the hair system once a week with shampoo and a hair conditioner special for the hair system.
3. Use hair oil regularly to moisture the hair.
4. Stay away from high temperatures and harmful substances like chlorine and salt.
5. Use a soft, silk pillowcase if you wear it at night.
6. Use a hair system stand to keep the shape of the hair if you remove it at night.
Can I swim with a hair system?
Yes, absolutely! Follow these simple tips below to swim with no worries if you wear a hair system.
1. Use water-proof hair system tape and glue when you install the hair system to prevent it from falling off.
2. Please wait at least 24 hours after installation to make sure the tape or glue is well-set on the scalp.

Can I work out with a hair system?
Yes, sure. Wearing a hair system doesn’t mean you have to give up your daily exercise routine. Here are several useful tips to help you work out with a hair system with no worries.
1. Lace or mono base hair systems are preferable choices for working out as they are more breathable and comfortable under extremely hot or sweating conditions.
2. Use water-proof hair system tape and glue when you install the hair system to prevent it from falling off.

Step 4: Once the items you sent back qualify for a return, we will ship the items you need to exchange to within 3-5 working days.
When will I receive my exchange?
Once the items you sent back qualify for an exchange, we will ship the items you need to exchange to you within 3-5 working days. Shipping will take another 5-7 working days globally.
How can I receive my exchange fast?
A normal exchange will take a very long time if you follow the standard exchange procedure. If you wish to receive the exchange faster, we suggest you place a new order online and take a return procedure for the merchandise that not fit or that you dislike.
